Publishing Ethics
The journal's publication process follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Exlibris Social Gerontology Journal is committed to upholding standards of ethical behavior at all stages of the publication process. We follow closely the industry associations, such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), that set standards and provide guidelines for best practices in order to meet these requirements.
Submitted manuscripts are evaluated for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, citizenship, or political ideology. The editors will reject works containing explicitly discriminatory and unethical content and promoting unprofessional practices.
Duties and responsibilities of authors
- Be aware that articles have to be original works of their authors and may not be previously published anywhere.
- Declare any conflicts of interest.
- Remember authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made contributions should be listed as co-authors.
- Include appropriate funding statements in the manuscript.
- Show informed consent and provide assurances that participants’ rights are protected (where required).
- Follow guidelines for accurate and complete reporting of research.
- The fabrication of results and making of fraudulent or inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and may cause rejection or retraction of a manuscript or a published article.
- Inform the journal if you subsequently find errors in your research.
Duties and responsibilities of reviewers
Articles are selected for publication in a double-blind selection system and published in open access system. Reviewer shall review by the electronic system on the basis of questions prepared for a specific title. It is also possible for a reviewer to send individual comments to be published in the article content. All judgments and findings in the peer-review process should be objective. Reviewers should not consider evaluating manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relations with any of the authors, companies, or institutions involved in writing a paper.
Duties and responsibilities of editors
Editors are responsible for deciding which articles are accepted for publication. Editors act in a balanced, objective, and fair way while carrying out their expected duties, without discrimination on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origin of the authors.
Publisher and Editors are always ready to publish corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies if there is a legitimate need.
